The 5 second rule: What I learned from Mel Robbins

Often we heard about what you can complete, done and change your life in 1 minute. However, the 5 second rule is something powerful enough to change your life too.

I came across this incredible book on one lazy afternoon when I don't feel like doing anything but beside was a pile of knowledge waiting me to master them. 5 seconds is literally so powerful, don't underestimate it.

Through the book: The 5 second rule by Mel Robbins, 5 elements which basically allows you to change so much.
Element 1: The moment you have an instinct
Element 2: To act on a goal
Element 3: You must push yourself
Element 4: To move within 5 seconds
Element 5: Or you brain will kill it

When you don't feel like doing, count 5-4-3-2-1 and DO IT!
When you are afraid of sharing your opinion, count 5-4-3-2-1, raise and share out!
When you are hesitating, count 5-4-3-2-1 and DO IT!
You will be surprise by yourself! You DID IT!

How I apply 5 second rule in my daily life
1. Waking up early in the morning before 7. Once my alarm goes off, I lay on my bed counting 5-4-3-2-1, sit up immediately and walk to the kitchen to have a glass of water. At first something might go wrong with me turning off the alarm and fall back to sleep. However, keep on practice and you will get the rule one day!

2. Washing my own workout wear. Normally I would just leave my workout wear aside after bathing until tomorrow morning. Now before going to bed, I count and moved my feet to the bathroom and wash them up when I don't feel like doing it that moment.

3. Count and study when I don't feel like study. Procrastination also happens to me, don't worry if you are procrastinating too. I would take out my motivation book which is full of motivation quotes and solutions, read it, close it and tell myself to only study for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the study mood will eventually comes and YES, just continue study.

4. Workout start with 5-4-3-2-1. When I don't feel like working out, I count and put on my outfit telling myself just at least 30 mins workout. That works!

Courage is truly what I learned from Mel Robbins. Without The 5 second rule, I believe I'm still the one being lead and didn't figure out that actually I can lead well too.

Favorite quotes from The 5 second rule
You have greatness inside of you. Even at your lowest point, greatness is there.

Ignored your fears and let your courage and your confidence speak for you. 5 second of courage males all the difference.

The moment you have an instinct to act on a goal you must 5-4-3-2-1 and physically move or your brain will stop you.

If you want to improve your life, you'll need to get off your rear and kick your own butt.

Whenever you feel an instinct fire up to act on a goal or a commitment, or the moment you feel that yourself hesitate on doing something and you know you should do, use the RULE.

There's greatness inside of you, and it's on the other side of your excuses.

If you have the courage to start, you have the courage to succeed.

The only thing relevant is you. The power is inside of you. The only way you access that power is pushing yourself to try.

Sometimes there is no next time, no second chance, or no time out. Stop waiting. It's now or never.

When you 5-4-3-2-1 push yourself forward, you will discover the magic in your life and you open yourself up to the world, to opportunity, and to possibility.

Win or lose, at least i'm doing something.

The more  that you practice acts of courage, the more that you will believe you are in control of your life, and as a result, the more confident that you will become.

I'm feeling so great while writing this post, flipping back the notes I had jot down while reading The 5 second rule, recalling back what I had learned from Mel Robbins.
I'm grateful I came across The 5 second rule, I might not be applying all the facts Mel shared in her book, but I'm learning and I'm trying my best! Big success always start with small step out!
Don't miss out the TED talk by Mel Robbins too!

Comment below which is your favorite book so I can read them too!
Hope my sharing would motivate and be useful to you. Bye, see you in my next post!
